UNEMPLOYMENT LWA & FPUC $300 PER WEEK UPDATE 09/11/2020 (22 STATES PAID!)
FEMA has announced the LWA funds will be gone soon. Even though FEMA initially only guaranteed 3 weeks of funding this aligns perfectly with initial calculations that the 44 billion dollars of reallocated funds would probably last four to seven weeks depending on participation. We have now heard this announcement as we enter the sixth week since FPUC expired. You may receive three to six weeks of benefits; some will receive more than others it just depends on how quickly your state applied and was able to distribute funds. If your state was approved, according to the memorandum, FEMA should have already provided the funds to the state, you should receive your LWA benefit when your state system is able to disperse funds it is just some states are faster than others at distributing.
One state is pending approval: Nevada.
And South Dakota is the only state that has opted out.
For most states you do not need to do anything to receive LWA, but some states do require you recertify please check with you state to find out what is required. If you state is in PAID status, they are distributing funds however some people receive it sooner that others so if you haven’t received it yet you should expect to see it soon. Also, LWA is supposed to be retroactive in a lump sum however some states haven’t been doing this. These are the most current updates I have as of today, but they could change.
Now for the new states approved by FEMA.
